Hail comes in various shapes and sizes. Hail strikes can be easy to spot if you know what to look for.

Signs of Hail Hits:

  • Random damage with no discernable pattern
  • Spots on the roof colored black
  • Loss of sandlike pellets (granules) on the shingles
  • Shingles that appear “shiny

The photo below displays hits varying in shape. Hits are round and others show up as streaks. Insurance covers not only hail damage on the roof but other aspects of a home’s property. Wind strongly affects how the appearance of hail hits show up in damaged spots.

Hail hit sections can be easily seen on decking and siding. Materials that make up decking and siding are not always, made to resist harsh weather. This makes cracking and scrapes are easy to spot.

In the picture above it appears as if somene had taken a baseball bat to the metal. This is often what hail hits resemble on metal objects on a roof. Dented metal is a good indicator that hail damage had occurred.
